We’re on a mission to transform the way businesses pay each other and help get cash flowing through the economy faster. We help buyers and suppliers connect, collaborate and pay each other via a single integrated platform that automates invoice processing and payments.

About the Role

As a Business Development Executive, you will supercharge our next phase of growth and play a pivotal role in making Relay the next NZ tech success story. You’ll be responsible for identifying and engaging prospects, converting them into qualified opportunities and managing the sales cycle end-to-end.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Identify prospects that fit our ideal customer profile and set up outreach campaigns using prospecting and engagement tools, e.g. Sales Navigator and Apollo.io.

  • Get a deep understanding of customer needs and challenges through proactively researching prospects and their industry. 

  • Engage prospects through phone calls, emails and social media. You’ll contact and nurture prospects with the goal of scheduling discovery and qualification calls.

  • Actively build and manage a pipeline of qualified leads through to close.

  • Successfully manage complex sales cycles end-to-end.

  • Maintain consistent contact with existing clients and track metrics to ensure targets are hit

  • Help enable value for our customers by solving problems and proposing solutions.

  • Gather data and insights from every customer conversation to help us build out market and customer intelligence. 

  • Develop and refine automated email outreach campaigns that will start a conversation with prospects.

  • Attend industry/community events and join networking groups to proactively build your network, drive conversations and identify opportunities.

 

Who we’re looking for

  • You obviously have exceptional communication skills and sales aptitude - you build rapport quickly. You love people!

  • You’re naturally comfortable on the phone and engaging cold prospects. You can clearly articulate our value proposition and handle objections without a sweat. 

  • You’re curious and results-driven. You’re always looking for opportunities to grow, make improvements and challenge the status quo.

  • You’re high-energy, self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership.

  • You’re a creative problem solver with the resilience to overcome any challenge.

  • You have 3-5 years of outbound sales experience and want to keep on growing in a fast-paced fintech start-up.
